Privacy Policy

Introduction

We, the DateScan team, place great importance on user privacy. This privacy policy explains how DateScan handles your data when you use our outfit analysis features, including the account system and cloud storage described below.

1. Account Creation and Authentication

DateScan uses Firebase Authentication to let you create and access an account, using either Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. When you sign in, we receive limited information from your chosen provider, which may include:

• A unique account identifier (Firebase UID).
• Your name and email address, if made available by Google or Apple based on the permissions you grant during sign-in (Apple allows you to hide your email address using "Hide My Email").

This information is used solely to identify your account, keep your data (scan history and credits) synced across devices, and provide customer support if needed. We do not use it for advertising purposes.

2. Data Stored in Your Account

Once you are signed in, the following information is stored in our cloud infrastructure (Firebase, provided by Google), associated with your account:

• Outfit photos: Photos you submit for analysis are uploaded to Firebase Storage and linked to your account so you can access your scan history from any device.
• Analysis results: The text recommendations generated by the AI for each scan are stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) and linked to your account.
• Credits and purchase history: Your credit balance and a record of your in-app purchases are stored and linked to your account so they remain available across devices.

This data is only accessible to you (through the app), to the DateScan team for support and troubleshooting purposes, and to Google as our cloud infrastructure and authentication provider, acting under its own privacy policy and Firebase's data processing terms.

3. Camera Usage and Photo Processing

DateScan uses your device's camera or photo library to capture or select photos of your outfit in order to analyze it and provide personalized style recommendations. Here is how your photos are handled:

• Cloud storage: Photos submitted for analysis are uploaded and stored in Firebase Storage, linked to your account, so that your scan history remains available across your devices (see Section 2).
• Sent to Gemini AI: To perform the outfit analysis, your photo is transmitted to Google's Gemini AI service. This transmission is necessary for the core functionality of the application. Google may process this data in accordance with their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Google's Privacy Policy for more details on how Gemini handles submitted content.
• Retention: Photos and analysis results are retained as part of your scan history until you delete them individually, delete your account, or request deletion as described in Section 6.

4. Usage Data and Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google, to collect non-personal, aggregated information about how the app is used, in order to improve its performance and features. This may include:

• Type of device used.
• Operating system version.
• App usage statistics (e.g. screens visited, features used, session duration).
• General, coarse location derived from your IP address (e.g. country or region), if enabled by Firebase Analytics.

Firebase Analytics data is associated with an identifier for your app installation and, when you are signed in, may be linked to your account to help us understand how our users use the app. This information is used for analytics and product improvement purposes only, and is processed by Google in accordance with its own Privacy Policy and the Firebase privacy and security documentation.

5. Data Sharing

DateScan does not sell your personal data. Your data is shared only with the following third parties, strictly for the purpose of operating the application:

• Google (Firebase): for authentication, for storing your photos, scan results, and credit history in the cloud, and for app analytics via Firebase Analytics.
• Google Gemini AI: for performing outfit analysis on your submitted photos, as described in Section 3.
• Apple: only if you choose Sign in with Apple, to authenticate your account.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time directly from within the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your stored photos, scan results, and credit/purchase history from our systems, except where we are required to retain certain records (e.g. purchase records) for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes. If you are unable to delete your account from the app for any reason, you can request deletion by contacting us at the email address in Section 9.

7. Security

We are committed to ensuring that the application is secure. Data in transit to Gemini AI and to Firebase is encrypted. Access to your account data in Firebase is protected by Firebase Authentication and security rules that restrict access to your own data.

8. Links to Third-Party Sites or Services

Our application relies on third-party services, including Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Analytics), Google Gemini AI, and Google Play Services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services, as we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

9. Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We recommend checking this page periodically to stay informed of any changes.
